With scientists

As well as research collaborations with other scientists during my academic career, I have had many exciting and enjoyable collaborations and discussions related to my fiction and non-fiction writing.
There have been visits to the Natural History Museum's parasite and snail labs, and the palaeontology department to look at trilobites; attempts to build cardboard models of quasicrystals; discussions about seal poo, and the materials from which an 'octocalliope' could be constructed; trips way out on the shore to look at mussel beds ...
And many scientists from around the UK have helped with the various SciTalk events from 2005-2010, such as 'Four scientists in search of an author' and the Subtle Science short story competitions.
