‘Wood and Wool’ events

The fifth annual 'Wood and Wool' sale and exhibition was held in the Village Hall, Plumbland (near Aspatria) on November 5th 2011. 'Wood' exhibitors were Croglin Toys from near Penrith; Paul Nixon with his range of turned wood that includes clocks, candle-sticks and bowls; John Lackie with turned wooden platters, boxes, bowls and - a new departure - tables and children's stools; and Keith White's beautiful boxes and 'Arts and Crafts'-style tables.

'Woolly' exhibitors were Cecilia Hewett and Jan Hicks with a variety of dyed woollen products including yarns, socks, brooches; Marilyn and Ian Hutchcroft (who also helped with the show's organisation) with finely woven scarves, knitwear and toys; Ann Lingard's woven rugs and wall-hangings; Morag Platt with rag-rugs; Julie Harrison's felted jewellery; and Kathleen Robertshaw's unusual 'rustic' chairs.
